Are you looking to introduce your toddler to the beauty of classical music in Singapore? Let me share my experience with what I consider Singapore’s best musical playgroup, conveniently located in the heart of Katong. It’s a little gem that has captured both my heart and my daughter’s imagination.
I first took my daughter, then just 10 months old, to her very first classical music concert—a Musical Playdate hosted by @Libitum on Singapore’s East Coast. I’ll never forget the look on her face. Her eyes sparkled as she balanced on a little stool, swaying in time with the music, absolutely mesmerised by the professional musicians performing right in front of her. It was such a magical moment. I was not only moved by her reaction but also deeply touched by the music and the atmosphere. From that day, we were hooked! Since then, we’ve been attending the Musical Playdate nearly every month. So, when I discovered that @Libitum was offering a musical playgroup for toddlers, I knew we had to be a part of it.
The Baby Mozart programme at @Libitum is specially designed for toddlers aged 2 to 5. It’s much more than just a typical playgroup—Baby Mozart introduces little ones to the enchanting world of classical music through storytelling, rhythm, dance, solfège, and even musicianship, including exposure to both the violin and the piano. While Singapore offers plenty of musical playgroups, @Libitum truly stands out from the crowd. What makes it so special? Well, for starters, all the teachers are professional Russian musicians. What an extraordinary way to introduce young children to classical music—by learning from the very best!
During the sessions, the children are even encouraged to hold and “perform” on a violin, giving them an early hands-on experience with the instrument. This isn’t just any ordinary playgroup; it’s a magical introduction to music that stays with the children long after the session has ended.
My daughter is so enchanted with her playgroup that she never wants to leave! After each session, we often linger for another hour or so. There’s something wonderfully cosy and inviting about the atmosphere—it’s become a home away from home for both of us. I love that she feels so comfortable and happy there, and it’s clear she’s forming a beautiful relationship with music in a nurturing environment.
If you’re a parent who values real music and wants to give your little one a head start in appreciating its beauty, I can’t recommend @Libitum’s Baby Mozart highly enough. The programme not only nurtures a love for classical music but also gently introduces toddlers to the fundamentals of musicianship, including rhythm and listening skills. It’s a delightful way to immerse them in the splendour of music at such an early age.
For those of you hoping your child will learn a musical instrument one day, Baby Mozart is an ideal starting point. It’s never too early to instil a lifelong appreciation for music, and this programme does it beautifully.
Here’s why Baby Mozart is a cut above the rest:
